Matthew lives on Mill Road in Cambridge, so loft extensions and other renovations to Victorian Terraces are his bread and butter. In this loft conversion, the challenge was to create sufficient headroom within the dormer, which he achieved by obtaining planning consent from the Local Authority to raise the rafter line.
“It’s gone from being the worst to the best space in the house! Now my daughter and I fight over it!”
Anne had a loft room before, but it was a small oppressive space only suitable as a small office. Matthew added a full dormer with a Juliet balcony and changed the dynamic of the whole house. He designed the conversion, liaised with the Local Authority to obtain planning permission and building control approval. He then managed the project through structural engineering to completion.
